FAQ’S
What is Therapy? What will our sessions be like?
In a session we start with simply talking through what's present for you that day, whatever has been sitting with you since we last met. From there, we follow it. Some sessions stay in conversation the whole time, tracing a thought or a reaction back to where it actually started. Others move into the body, a breathing exercise, a somatic check-in, or a guided visualization, if that's what the moment calls for. You don't need to prepare anything or walk in with the right words ready. In our work together I will help you find the threads, and we will work to untangle it.
I have never done therapy before. What if I do not know what to say?
That is completely normal. You do not need an agenda, a diagnosis, or the right words ready. Most people start with something simple, a feeling, a recent moment, or a sense that something needs attention. My style is gentle yet direct and I will guide the conversation from there.
What issues do you work with?
I work with anxiety, life transitions, relationship patterns, people-pleasing, boundaries, and nervous system regulation. Many clients also come to deepen their spiritual or creative connection to life. If you are unsure whether this fits, reach out and we can talk about it.
How many sessions will I need? How long does this take?
There is no fixed number. It depends on what you are working with and how you want to work. Some people come for a short, focused stretch. Others stay in ongoing work for a longer season of life. We will check in regularly rather than commit to a set timeline upfront.
What is your fee for psychotherapy?
My current fee is $250 per 50 minute individual session.
Do you take insurance?
I am not contracted with any insurance company. I am an out-of-network-provider, and am able to provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
At the moment all of my sliding scale spots are taken.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 48 hours notice for session cancellations. If I receive less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged for the missed session. Exceptions to this include medical emergencies, and situations in which we are able to reschedule within the week (pending session availability).
Do you offer phone or video appointments?
For the time being I am only providing audio and/or telehealth video appointments.
Are you available after-hours?
You may send me emails 24-hours a day; I will usually respond within 1-2 business days.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in session is confidential, protected by California law and professional ethics. There are a few legally required exceptions, such as concern for your safety or someone else's, or suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult. I will go over these limits with you in detail in our first session.
Do you work with clients from outside of California?
I am licensed as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California, I only work with clients who also reside in California.
Are you available after-hours?
